Grandma & me (& Elijah).

Here we are on the tram coming down from Taronga Zoo. It is an amazing view of the city of Sydney skyline. We had a great time at the Zoo.

The Blue Mountains.

This is a photo of me with the Blue Mountains in the background. Cute huh?

summer finally

It's finally summer! Imiss you soooooooooooooooooooo much! How you going?, oops I mean How are you doin?
It's been a couple of busy months. Sorry I haven't written for a while. I hope everyone had a great Christmas. I had a lot of fun because my cousin Madeleine (I miss you!) and my Aunt, Uncle and Grandma all came to visit me. After having a great time visiting the sights in Sydney we flew to Adelaide in Southern Australia and then took a Ferry to Kangaroo Island. My favorite part of the trip was seeing dolphins gliding in the water next to the Ferry. They looked kind of blue with a stripe on their back. We also saw Fairy penguins, the littlest species of penguins in the world. They were very very cute with blue on their backs to the start of their belly and white on them. The beaches were so beautiful. I saw koalas and kangaroos (they were taking the food right off the table while we were having a picnic!) We saw sea lions and seals and something called echidnas (a-kid-na) that look like little porcupines with a pointy nose - sort of like hedgehogs!
We're back to school now - I'm finally in Year 3! I have a really nice teacher this year , her name is Mrs. Sifko. I have a nice class and one of my really good friends named Kristin is in my class. Junior School is really really fun because you have a bigger classroom.
Sorry I have to go, I miss you!
Bye,
Isabella

Last day of Prep School

Last day of Prep School
Today was my last day of school. I had a half day instead of a full day and we gave out little parcels such as a lot of candy canes, chocolates and Christmas cards. I am finally in Year 3! At our school Year 3 is the Junior School so I will be on a different part of the campus and have a different playground and everything. I can even eat school lunch in Year 3 - in Prep school you always have to bring your lunch. I don't have to wear the red apron over my uniform and the red hat with the ear flaps when I go outside! The Junior school girls wear ball caps for P.E.
Here I have a pool and I went swimming in it today. It's summer here.
Last week I got a trophy for Best Gymnast in Prep School. It's really cool. I had my first gymnastics meet last week - I did well I got 3rd all-around 2nd on Beam, 2nd on Vault, 3rd on Bars and 4th on Floor. It was fun.
Bye for now,
Love, Isabella

Grasshopper Girl

Grasshopper Girl
Today I had a little play at school and I had the part of the Grasshopper Girl. and by the way I'm sorry I didn't say this but "HI"- I miss you all so much. My play was about a grasshopper who sang away the summer days and ate up all her food, and the ants who worked through the summer heat to store up their food for winter. It was a really fun play that I did during my Speech & Drama class. I get to go to Speech & Drama during lunch and its really fun!
Soon it will be summer vacation here! We get out of school on December 4th and then finally I will be in Year 3! (Third Grade)I will have 2 months off. I can't believe we are going to be in summer for Christmas!
Love,
Isabella ps Can you guys start sending me back letters and I'll respond to them!

Spring Holidays

Spring Holidays
I'm on my school holidays - for 2.5 weeks! I went to the Gold Coast (Brisbane) We drove our car (it was 2 days of driving) On the way there we stopped at a few beaches - the sand was really soft, like in Destin, Florida!
My hotel was across the street from a beach so every day we went to the beach. We got Body Surfing Boards - it was fun when we rode the Body Boards in the Ocean. There was this Gelati place across the street that we always went to.
I went to the Croc Hunters Zoo - at the Zoo I kind of got to hold a Koala. I got a good picture. The best thing about that Zoo is the animals are able to walk around the Zoo - like the Kangaroos, you go in and pet them - it is so nice! There was a wombat on a leash getting a walk. The tigers were really cute and there were two trainers in their play yard snuggling with them and playing too. It was a little sad seeing the flowers, stuffed crocodiles and long row of Khaki shirts that people signed in memory of Steve Irwin. His picture is everywhere in the Zoo. The Crocodile Show was very cool! Those crocodiles are big! Have you seen Bindi's commercial yet? She was on Nicolodeon for Kids Choice awards. She was!
We went to Dreamworld - sort of like 6 Flags, there was a Wiggles area that Elijah really liked - he rode in the Big Red Car! It was fun. There were Koalas and Kangaroo petting there also.
We went to a Rain Forest. There were loads of parrots. They came and sat on your hand if you had food. They came and sat on your head and scared you! It was really fun. That was my favorite part of my vacation. On the way home
On the way home we stopped at a place called Byron Bay which is the most Eastern point in Australia, there is a lighthouse - you can see really far - sometimes you can see whales, we didn't see any, but it was pretty.
Tommorrow I start term 4 and get to wear my summer dress!

Marden Wins! and Charlotte is moving :(

Marden wins! and Charlotte is moving :(
I had a great time running the relay for my grade and we got second place - but for the whole athletic carnival we got first! It was so much fun.
I have a friend named Charlotte in my class and today was her last day. She arrived two days before me from Cape Cod in America but she is moving back already! I guess their family likes it better there - they are from England but moved to America before Charlotte was born - now they are moving back. I'm going to miss her - she is my best friend :(

Relay Team

Relay Team.
This Friday is the Athletics Carnival for the Prep School (grades k-2) We will run races and hurdles and play games (I think). this week they were timng us running. I was chosen to run in the Year 2 Relay race for my House. My House is Marden. Every girl is in a House and there are 4 different Houses. For P.E. we wear a polo shirt and there are different stripes according to which House you are in.
It's funny how many different things there are around here. I will let you know how I do in the Relay.

My pool is freezing cold!

My pool is freezing cold!
Hi mate!
I miss you guys lots. How are you doing? I''m fittin in well here. I like my pool in the backyard and yesterday I jumped in the pool - it was freezing cold! because it's winter here!!!!
I don't have school right now - because we finished our term. We're on Holidays for 3 weeks. I'm upside down a lot, I'm getting good at walking on my hands. During the day I like to challenge myself on handstand walking to get about 10 tiles (our kitchen/breakfast room is tile without much furniture yet!) I'm trying to learn press handstands. You're sitting on the ground in a straddle, then you lift your feet up and try to go into a handstand straddling your legs up. It's really hard but I'm getting it. The gymnastics here is way different - I'm in Level 3 and it's very hard, but I can do it. I'm working on cast handstands on the bars-I'm having lots of fun. I'm also learning a press handstand on the beam. I'm working on front somies off the beam, I'm getting spotted but I think I could do it by myself. I have my round off back tuck into the pit. Everybody does handspring vaults into the pit - they're really fun. I''m learning a round off on vault - it's very hard. I have a boy coach and a girl coach.
Australia is a lot of fun. I have lots of friends that I can play with, everybody is very very nice. I'm in year 2 but they have harder grades here. My school has only girls - I like having only girls in my school - sometimes we have to change clothes right in our classroom and if we had boys there that would be very embarrassing!
I'm miss you guys - See ya later,
your pal Isabella
